Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development

This Agenda is a plan of action for people, planet and prosperity. It also seeks to strengthen universal peace in larger freedom. Heads of State and Government and High Representatives, meeting at the United Nations Headquarters in New York from 25-27 September 2015 adopted the new 17 Sustainable Development Goals. The 2030 recognizes road safety as a global priority, establishing a goal of reducing road traffic deaths and injuries by 50% by the year 2020. SDG 3.6.

Decade of Action for Road Safety 2011–2020

Officially proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in March 2010. Its goal is to stabilize and reduce the forecast level of road traffic deaths around the world. It is estimated that 5 millions lives could be saved on the world’s roads during the decade. 

Global Road Safety Performance Targets

In April 2018 during its seventy-fourth session, the United Nations General Assembly approved by consensus the 12 voluntary global performance targets for road safety risk factors and service delivery mechanisms and encouraged Member States to take steps, following good practices, towards achieving the voluntary global performance targets for road safety.
